Manantiales del Portell, supplier of Aguas de Chóvar to the Valencian Cooperative Consum, with the collaboration and support of FEDACOVA and its transport operator Transnugon SL, has successfully developed and implemented a sustainable transport project with electric vehicles, specifically with two Mercedes Benz EActros tractors. After carrying out a detailed study of the transport routes, loading and unloading times, vehicle capacities, managing the relevant aid both in the acquisition of vehicles and in the installation of recharging points, this ambitious project has been underway since 1 April, the aim of which is the total decarbonisation of this company’s transport to its customers and which already has a planned date.
During this first month of operation, the vehicles have been carrying out regular services between Manantial, located in the Castellón municipality of Chóvar, and the Consum logistics platform in Silla, returning to Manantial with pallets or preforms from Caiba in Ribarroja. In total, almost 6,000 km have been covered this month, avoiding the emission of more than 5,550 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere, or the equivalent of 541 trees.
This economically and environmentally sustainable initiative is not a pilot project but a reality with which Manantiales del Portell and Transnugon, which had already reduced their emissions with the use of LNG-powered vehicles, aim to eliminate all emissions in the transport area of Manantiales del Portell by 2026, aspiring to a total reduction of emissions of more than 1.3 million kg. Furthermore, with the refuelling infrastructure to be developed in Chóvar, they hope to contribute to sustainable public transport in the Sierra de Espadán, thus protecting the ecosystem of the area.
